Jaklitera UI
Jaklitera is the official app of the Jakarta Library. Library members (Bibliography) can register through the app. By becoming a member via Jaklitera, you can reserve visits and order books online. The app also provides up-to-date information on library service points, literacy events, and data on libraries across DKI Jakarta that might be close to your home!

BACKGROUND.

Jaklitera is the digital gateway to Jakarta’s rich library network.

Despite its potential, the app struggled with outdated aesthetics, poor usability, and brand inconsistency. These challenges limited its ability to fulfill its mission: encouraging library engagement and promoting literacy.
We took on the challenge of modernizing Jaklitera into a functional, visually engaging, and cohesive app that resonates with the Jakarta Library’s vision.

PROBLEM.

Jaklitera’s earlier iterations presented significant hurdles:

  • Outdated visuals that didn’t reflect its modern audience.
  • A cluttered user flow, making navigation confusing.
  • A lack of cohesion with the Jakarta Library’s branding.

These flaws impacted user experience, making it less engaging and efficient.

  3. Modern Visual Hierarchy
Bold typography, subtle color gradients, and refined spacing for better readability.

  4. Quick Actions

  5. Enhanced Book Discovery
An intuitive search function and personalized book recommendations make exploration effortless.

User Research: Laying the Foundation

Through interviews and usability tests, we discovered:

  • Users often struggled with the cluttered layout and poor categorization.
  • A lack of personalization reduced engagement.
  • Information was hard to locate, leading to frustration.
